Novartis has announced a significant expansion in the Triangle, bringing roughly 380 new high-wage jobs to both Durham and Morrisville. These positions will support advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, including biologics, small-molecule therapies, and the production of the gene therapy Zolgensma. New roles will average more than $111,000 per year, adding strong momentum to the region’s already growing life-science sector.
To support this expansion, Novartis will receive a combined $20 million in state and local incentives. The company ultimately chose North Carolina over a competing bid from the Dallas area, underscoring the strength of the Triangle’s workforce and infrastructure. This move continues the region’s rise as one of the nation’s top hubs for biotech and pharmaceutical innovation.
